Everyone was off for Obon.
I'd completely forgotten about that,
and went to Yobuko in Saga Prefecture, famous for its squid,
to pick up a boxed lunch.
The place was packed with tourists and people visiting their hometowns,
and while I was busy thinking "wow, Yobuko is amazing,"
I ended up 30 minutes past my planned lunchtime.
Lately I've been making a game where you fly a plastic-bottle rocket all the way to space.
The game system is pretty much done,
so it's time to make the illustration assets on my pen tablet display.
So, I figured I'd make the background illustration,
and when I created a new 50,000px-tall canvas in Photoshop,
"Whoa. It's huge. Way too huge."
Sometimes, before I even think about whether something is technically possible,
I find myself wondering, "Am I even supposed to be doing this?"
When I dropped the finished, absurdly tall background illustration
into the game project, it threw an error, spectacularly.
"Well, of course it did."
In the end, I split the 50,000px background illustration into smaller pieces and implemented it that way.
It was a day that reminded me how much these little, trivial decisions add up.
